NORAD

Our first graders enjoyed a special visit from members of the 601st Air Operations Center (AOC), who shared the history of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and its beloved Santa Tracking program. Students learned how NORAD’s mission of protecting North American airspace led to the creation of Santa tracking decades ago, after a child’s call about Santa was accidentally routed to a military command center. What began as a simple act of kindness has grown into a cherished annual tradition, allowing families around the world to follow Santa’s journey on Christmas Eve. The visit brought history to life and sparked excitement, curiosity, and holiday joy for our youngest learners.
