Transition Planning for Military Families:

At A. Gary Walsingham Academy, we understand that military families often face unique challenges related to transitions. That's why we offer comprehensive transition planning tailored to the needs of military children and their families.

Our Naval Support Activity Military Liaison, our guidance team, and teachers regularly check in on our students to provide guidance and emotional support, helping them navigate the ups and downs of military life.

Academic Planning for Military Families:

At our school, academic planning for military families is a priority. During the year, we provide guided tours of our school and offer one-on-one meetings with our school counselor to discuss academic schedules, ensuring a smooth transition for incoming military students.

These meetings help tailor academic planning to military students' unique needs and goals, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources to succeed in their educational journey.

Resources for Military Families:

A. Gary Walsingham Academy believes in providing military children with a well-rounded educational experience. Our students have many opportunities to participate in various extracurricular activities, including safety patrol, choir, ITV and more. These activities promote personal growth and help military students connect with peers with similar interests, creating a sense of belonging and community.

Student-Led Transition Team (S2S Club):

Our safety patrol is important in helping military students transition to A. Gary Walsingham Academy. This student-led team gives guided tours of our school, introduces new students to teachers and faculty and provides a supportive network to ensure a smooth integration into our school community.

Support for Military ESE Children:

We understand that military children with exceptional needs require specific support. We offer personalized assistance for these students, including meetings with our ESE resource teacher to review their Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

Military Recognition Events:

A. Gary Walsingham Academy is committed to recognizing and honoring our military families. We host events such as "Purple Up Day", Month of the Military Child recognition, Celebrity Reader and STEAM Nights.

These events and special ceremonies honor both active duty and retired military parents. These events also serve as a token of our appreciation for the sacrifices military families make for our community.

Mental Health Resources For Military Families:

At our school, we understand that the well-being of military children is a top priority. To support mental health, students have access to TRIAD and guidance counselors who are available to provide counseling and emotional support. We aim to ensure that every military child on our campus has the resources they need to maintain their mental health and emotional well-being.

Our school is deeply committed to providing military children and their families the support they require to thrive academically, emotionally and socially. We aim to make this journey as smooth as possible.
